Students of the BSc Sports and Exercise Science program from Somaiya Sports Academy had the privilege of visiting the GAIT Lab at K J Somaiya College of Physiotherapy for an insightful and practical learning session.

The visit provided an opportunity to deepen their understanding of the biomechanics of human movement through direct observation of the gait motion analysis system. Students explored how marker-based gait analysis helps in assessing posture, movement patterns, and functional mobility, which are crucial in both sports performance and injury rehabilitation.

They also witnessed the isokinetic dynamometer in action, a specialized machine used to measure muscle strength and joint function under controlled conditions. Exposure to such advanced tools helped bridge the gap between classroom knowledge and real-world applications in clinical and athletic settings.

This hands-on experience enriched their perspective on how movement science, strength assessment, and rehabilitation technologies work together to improve human performance.

A heartfelt thank you to the Principal, faculty, and expert team at K J Somaiya College of Physiotherapy, Dr Rohan Kothurkar from Somaiya School of Engineering, Dr Nitin Khanvilkar, Assistant Professor, Somaiya Sports Academy, and Mr Swapnil Konda, Strength and Conditioning Coach, for arranging this invaluable learning experience.
